Numerous electrical problems and engine light on
I hope someone can help.
I have a C350 Sport, 77,000 miles. A couple of months ago the engine warning light came on. I had a diagnostic done, was told it was the inlet manifold and had the repair kit done on it. Car drove better after. However, 2 days later engine light came back. Diagnostic wasn't conclusive: one person translated it as needing new camshaft sensors, another as needing a new timing chain. (With the latter costing around £2000 if I get it done). On the rare occasion when accelerating there is a temporary loss of power. No particularly odd noises from the engine though: maybe throatyroarty when particularly cold, but not especially so.
I've held off having whatever is casuing the engine light investigated, as since then several electrical problems have surfaced so I'm now wondering whether to just reluctantly cut my losses and be rid of it or not.
Electrical problems are:
First the Sat nav stopped working
Fan system in cabin stopped working completely.
If headlights are on, indicators makes superfast clicking noise, like when a bulb has gone, but having checked all the lights they are fine
If headlights are switched onto Auto mode, they turn on and off of their own accord!
If anyone can give their opinion on the possible engine light issue , and if the electrical issues might be related: as you can imagine I don't want to pay for the timing chain to be done and then be stuck with another big electrical problem to fix!
Any thoughts appreciated.
JJ

Yes I'm thinking the engine problem aside, that the electrical probs all seem potentially related, I;ll look into what the front SAM controls.
Nope never had a steam clean or engine washed out.
Any other thoughts appreciated. It's on the cusp of the repairs potentially being not far off the value of the car. Didn't expect that at only 77K. Getting diagnostic redone and proper quote next week.

Did all those issues start at the same time? If so, any kind of work done to the car around that time? When you say the sat/nav stopped working do you mean the display is blank or you can no longer program it?
If your headlights are on Auto, they WILL go on and off by themself by way of a sensor. Once the light level is low enough they will come on and once it is brighter they will go off, like going through a tunnel. Or am I missing something?
