I just purchased a 2005 C230 automatic and the oem shift knob is peeling. I would like to replace it with a nice aftermarket piece. I've watched videos on how to remove the leather wrap and bezel/shift knob assembly. But I'm wondering if there is a tutorial or somehow you can add on a nice aftermarket knob that will allow the leather shroud piece to still look factory?

I'm not talking about purchasing a $150 shift knob and boot from Germany or Japan. I'm trying to find a cheap one for $20-30 that looks good and will mate up to the stock boot where the boot attaches just like the oem boot.
