W204 Limited Slip Differential conversion

Hello, was wondering if anyone knows about converting a none limited slip differential to a limited slip differential. is the differential case the same or are their differences in size that would prevent it just replacing the carrier? I know the way the factory sells it is the hole differential, but didn't know if there was a difference. I know the axles are different but the hubs are the same. so wouldn't be that hard to install

I’ve been wondering the same thing for the past 6 years with the post that I did with no response. It appears the C350 and C63 use the same rear support. I’m not sure about the differential case dimensions. And, if ou swapped out the differentials, if the drive shafts were the same dimensions

from what I have found, it seems that the housings are all the same. it is the center section, the carrier, of the differential that is different. I believe the splines on the axles are all the same also, cause the wheel hubs are the same between all W204 chassis, based on MB parts catalog part numbers. here is a video of a guy in Australia installing a LSD in his C200 CDI. looks fairly easy as long as you are mechanically inclined.

from what I have found, the C63 differential center section is a bit bigger than the none AMG cars, also the axles are different part numbers in the MB catalog. have not counted the splines to see if that is the difference or just the shaft power rating, also the gears in the C63 are a much closer ratio, 2.43:1 compared to others so the C250/C300/C350 would not accelerate as well. I have found Quaife makes the unit the guy in Australia installed and found a company in the UK that sells them, and would be around $1500-$2000 to get the center section. I just found a company racingdiffs.com that makes a conversion kit to install in the stock center section but not for the W204 chassis. it is in england and is about $400 plus tax and shipping.

I am still researching this topic am wondering how many W204 owners want a limited slip in their car?
