Small Battery in the Trunk
What is the purpose of the small battery located in the spare tire well of the trunk? Is it related to the GPS system? If I take it out to have it tested, is there a system/function that would be have to reset afterwards (e.g. like entering an anti-theft code into the radio)?
Curious because wondering what function of the car would be impacted when this battery eventually conks out ... unlike the big one in front, wouldn't expect to notice any difference when starting the car, etc.

I believe it runs the electronics. My coworker just had both replaced after a bad front battery that needs a jump start. The dealer told him that to avoid problems, he should replace the smaller one as well.... seems like an up-sell to me though
