Newbie Tire/wheel question

Hello,

Looking at purchasing a 2009 C300 4matic. It does have the sport package but surprisingly has the double 7 spoke wheels which I thought were put only on the luxury models. The Tires are staggered 225/45/17 fronts and 245/40/17 rears. I am interested in getting 18" wheels all the same size. Im assuming the stock front wheels are 17x7.5 and the rears are 17x8.5. Any recommendations as for what wheel and tire size to purchase if Im doing all 4 the same? Dont want to have speedometer issues etc.

Thanks!

I don't remember off hand but check your manual for the 18" options. They should be listed as it is a supported rim size.

Remove wheel and look at part number on inside. This will get you 100% confirmation of offset and width.

Tape a a piece of string to car above wheels and visualize the offset that you would want new wheels to be. Don’t have them extend past the fender of course but you will be amazed how much room you have. Measure from tire to string in mm.

The outside diameter of the tire would affect speedometer. Just keep them close to each other like your current tires do.

Owners manual list summer 18" wheel and tire sizes as follows:

Front: 8x18 on 225/40/18 50mm offset
Rear: 8.5x18 on 255/35/18 54mm offset

Think I can get away with either size wheel used *all season* on all 4 corners? or do I always have to maintain staggered for best vehicle dynamics? This vehicle is no hot rod, wonder why MB staggered this model.

Not sure that I would throw 255s up front though.

For sure you won't want to install 255 in the front, max I'd go is 235.

Wonder why MB staggered this model.
I run EXACTLY this set up on my wife's C300, 18" AMG wheels.
Staggered for better looks and supposedly performance.

I run a staggered set on my S550 as well. Actually, all my cars have staggered set up, so did all cars I owned in the past. My daughters BMW 330i has a staggered set as well.

NO 255's in the front!!!!!! I think the 225's are plenty wide on the front.
