Coolant Light & Fan Running

Last week my ‘12 C300 amber coolant light came on on the center of the dash and I noticed the fan started running on high all the time. Temp never went above 85*. After parking the car overnight, I unlocked it the next day and just by unlocking it the fan started running again.

I have searched around & read about the sensors for the coolantand washer fluid being tied together and it could be either one, also read about low coolant level or high A/C pressure causing the fan to run. However, I’ve found nothing on an actual troubleshooting process. I really don’t want to just start throwing parts at it. So if anyone can help with where to start that would be great!

The simple thing to do first is to see if you have enough coolant. Check the reservoir fluid level while the car is cool.

Thanks for the reply. I did check the level and it apprears to be ok. I’m not 100% sure though because the manual is very vague as to what a good level is. All of my other vehicles have a min. & max mark.
