Rear Brakes

Rear Brakes
Went in today to the dealership for the 30K Service A and the advisor said that I needed rear brakes. He stated that they are "already cutting into rear sensors." I know the dealership is going to charge an arm and a leg. Where do you guys get OEM parts so I can get this done from a local mechanic. Any recommendations? Also what parts are needed?

It seems the mileage is a bit low to have your rear brakes need to be changed. The sensor usually shows in the dash and there is a couple hundred miles before they really need to be changed. Maybe you should take a look at the pads before you change them out. I did my rear brakes for the first time at 88K miles, at 94K I did the front brakes for the second time. So I find it odd that your rear are going at 30K.As for suppliers there is FCP, ECS Tuning, and Pelican they are all have competitive pricing and Pelican has great DYI articles that can help you do the job. Some of the supplier have kits so that saves you some money.good luck

Can't go wrong with Akebono (probably the best)and best price is Rock Auto from my research. Centric Posi Quiet Ceramics are also excellent and cheaper. Many good choices.

Agree that rear pads shouldn't be worn at this mileage unless there was a stuck caliper which you should have noticed prior...a real easy DIY if you have the tools.

I replaced my rear pads at around 30-35k, fronts around 35-40k because they warped. It all depends on how/where you drive. Also, buy good quality parts, buying once is cheaper then buying several times. I replaced my front rotors with Zimmerman rotors and used OEM pads and they work really well and haven't warped which has almost always been a problem for me... I hate brake vibrations, and I hate steering wheel vibrations even more though lol. I bought from FCP because they have lifetime warranty and can return them for free replacements.

Brakes are like tires, lots to choose from, many opinions/preferences and most do a very good job for ordinary driving.
Here's a product I'm thinking of trying when my first replacement comes due: https://www.epicfriction.com/index.php/whybuyepic/ ...

I would like to see a pic of the pads straight from the side of rotor with the wheel off. I’m not buying that rear pads need to be changed at 30k miles.
Would be interested to know if both rear pads are wearing the same too.

I have 75,000km on my car and my rear pads are still at 70%. I need new ones for the front though.

If you are in the US, buy from FCPEuro as you will get lifetime free replacements. That's they policy.

I just put in Aekebono pads F and R and they are not that great. No dust is awesome but braking performance has dropped from using stock pads. Stock pads bite instantly while the Aekebono pads feel about %30 less.
I am putting some regular pads back on soon but will want a low dust option.
