Greetings to all. I'm looking at a 2012 C350 4-matic.
First of all what engine is in this car? I was expecting a M272, but it is different.
Second, is this engine plauged with any of the same issues as it's older generation does? IE soft gears, flakey balance shafts??
Is the transmission the same 722.9 as the older ones?

Flakey balance shaft issues affected early production 272 engines, which never made it into the W204. I believe this plagued W203 C classes, and not 204s, as an example.
Transmission is the newer one I believe. Named 7Gtronic plus.
