Brake problem

The Garage claim there's no problem but the brakes are shockingly bad. I have to put my foot to the floor even then it barely stops.
What I want to know is, in sport mode it seems slightly better. BUT when it's in cruise control and I brake while dropping the cruise speed, it's really sharp.
Why aren't my brakes always good?

If your foot goes to the floor then you probably have air in the brake lines.
Is the brake fluid reservoir at the correct level ?
With the engine running if you pump the brake pedal does it go hard ?
With the engine stopped pump the brake pedal 10 times or so till it goes hard, then with your foot still on the brake start the engine. The vacuum servo should cause the pedal to drop further ?
Sports mode only affects the gearbox and Cruise Control should have no bearing.

Agreed. Both those should not affect braking. My thoughts are also air in the brake lines. Might as well empty and fill with new fluid if the technique above doesn't work.

Thanks but I don't understand why its so sharp in sport + cruise control+ braking.
if there was air surely even this wouldn't be so responsive. Putting it in sport seems to improve the braking.

When you find the solution it may throw light on why the braking seems better at times.
Have you tested as I suggested ?
