C250 shut completely off while driving!
Just got a call from the wife. Upset and startled because her car completely shut off while driving around 40mph on her way home. She coasted into a parking lot with no power steering or brakes. On the phone she said no lights or codes showing. Removed key and reinserted, and car started back up. She also said that she went to pass a car and the transmission started jerking violently before shutting off. She's on her way back. Not sure what to look for?

HPFP. Be prepared, mine was $1600 but they good will warrantied it (bought it 4k miles / 6 months prior)
ask about good will warranty...they know its a defective part. THEY KNOW

Another C250 and its HPFP bites the dust. They things are failing like hot cakes. Glad your wife is ok and made it safely.
Let's hope the dealership helps you in terms of cost. I wonder when a class-action lawsuit will be launched against Mercedes because of the HPFP failure which seems to be caused by a design flaw.

Which is why most of us will recommend potential customers to avoid these DI engines. Stick to a 2012 C300 and you're golden

All DI engines have HPFP (high pressure fuel pumps), and those are known to crap out. I don't think I've ever read a thread on any forum I'm active on that involved the old school (LPFP) low pressure fuel pumps dying.
At 250bar (IIRC), those HPFPs are seriously dealing with massive pressures.
