Serpentine Belt Replacement Help: Is Tensioner Failing??
I'm moving towards replacing the serpentine belt. I uploaded a video to show wobble.
Q 1. Is something that wait another few weeks or am I in the danger zone? Car has 120k miles
Q2. Anyone actually replace this and all pulleys themselves?
It does not look too challenging of DIY.
I think I should do a complete new pulley system from FCP Euro.
Thoughts Please. Thanks.

I don't think this is something immediate attention is required. Just get it done in next few weeks.
As for the parts, get below from Rockauto.com

I purchased my car with the belt about to fall off because of a faulty tensioner. These cars shred the belt if the tensioner or pulley is worn, leaving you stranded. I mean, if your belt isn't getting shredded and leaving rubber debris, it's not as urgent, just a warning that once the tensioner is weak enough, this will happen.
Its a very friendly DIY job, getting the tensioner off can be challenging for some. You need to fully release the tension on it and put an Allen key or something thin to hold it in place because there is a bolt that needs to be removed behind it.
This step by step will explain it better than I can;

The Contitech is an excellent choice, I've driver 100k on it and its still flawless.

Sorry, I just had a Continental belt, which was made in the USA. The Genuine Mercedes tensioner is a "Gates" tensioner so don't bother paying 3 times the price for it, go with the Gates which is the exact same part. The Idlers aswell, I presume. I replaced my tensioner and idlers with Gates ones, I still have my original tensioner that failed and like I remembered, it has a Mercedes part number with a "Gates" logo next to it.

It's more expensive but they offer lifetime replacement.
They offer the kit but it says made in Turkey.

Thanks for the info. I was leaning towards FCP Euro Drive Belt Kit which sells Febi (tensioner) and pulley which is INA.
It's more expensive but they offer lifetime replacement.

I would go with that kit, their lifetime warranty is great.

I replaced on my C350, the belt, the small idler pulley(weak link here), the larger idler pulley(This pulley was perfect actually, it is of a high quality), the tentioner setup with pulley.
-Remember the tentioner has a hole where you suppose to insert a pin to hold it off tention, so you can remove it freely.
-The new tentioner came with a pin in it, ready to install.
-Before you remove the bolts of the tentioner unit, you have to use a socket and turn on it till you can insert the pin, insert the pin and remove the belt.
Then remove the tentioner unit.
-Make a note on how the belt goes.
-Check waterpump bearing, it has a very slight play to feel, but that is apparently normal.
-Check ulternator bearing.
-Check steering pump feel.
-Check Aircon feel all while belt is off.
--------------------------------------------------------------------read up further on it.
--Tightning of bolts
--Insert and direct new belt.
--Use socket, apply some force, then free pin from tentioner pulley, now you can release torgue and the belt tightens.
--Visually check that belt fits correctly on each pulley, before starting the engine.
--I am used to tightning stuff, so I could not get confirmed torgue settings, so tightened it on feel regarding size of bolts and fact its aliminium casings. I could not risk torgue it to incorrect settings and break off a bolt in casing, the same goes if you not used to tightning bolts and do it for the 1st time.

I apologize for bringing up this old thread. I had a similar issue with my vehicle recently; I had a visible crack in my serpentine belt. I get a proper tool for the DIY then follow certain procedure on how to replace it. I came across an in-depth article that may be worth reading. Search for "Mercedes-Benz Serpentine Belt Replacement Guide on YOUCANIC" and you will see an article that goes over common causes and possible fixes. You can read about it yourself. I hope this information can assist someone else with a similar issue.
