No power to radio harness at all !
Hi there ,
I own a 2008 Mercedes C Class W204 and a few days ago I went ahead and installed a new head unit to my car. During the installation process, I had let the negative and positive wires touch accidently when wiring the camera power. This then stopped all electrics coming to the harness.
So I presumed it would be a blown fuse or something, after checking every single fuse visually and with a voltmeter, the fuses were fine ! So I used the voltmeter to check if there was any power coming at all to any wires in the radio harness but no luck again.
Now the radio harness is completely dead and not receiving power at all.
Any ideas ?
Thanks

Yes I did all this while connected to battery, the radio fuse behind the unit is fine, even tried plugging in the old head unit but won’t power on. So I’m sure what’s gone wrong, like you said maybe the spark burnt the harness.
How can i check if it’s the harness ?
Thanks

Somewhat unusual to barbeque the harness without blowing a fuse or two first wouldn't you say ? You tested the 12V radio lead with a test light or multimeter, not just plugging in/turning on the radio(s) ?-- fuse 26 under hood and 84 in trunk OK you said. Give this link a look....

As requested I have taken a look at the fuses and they all seem fine. Also, yes you are correct I did use a voltmeter to check each individual fuse and also checked all the wire connection in the harness, And the only power I am receiving is from the Permanent live cable which is obvious. But all other cables are dead.
I don't think that such a small spark could burn the harness.
Any other solutions ?
Thanks
