Distronic plus with steer assist question

Hello, everyone!

I just got my first Mercedes - a 2011 W204 C250 C-class facelift sedan, which has distronic plus with steer assist. The distronic plus part works well but I don't understand the steer assist. Is it supposed to keep the vehicle in the center of the lane? When I use distronic plus, the car tries to steer itself out of the lane sometimes and I have to fight the steering wheel. Is there any way to use distronic plus but to turn off the steer assist?

Thank you all in advance for your replies and help

On my car, the assist kicks in if I allow the car to drift over a lane stripe. It shows red on my display, nudges the wheel back toward center and causes a slight loss of power.

Thank you for your reply
Isn't this function that you mention called the lane keep assist? I think that it is a different function from the steer assist or are they the same thing?

Now you have me wondering - I'll have to look it up in the Operators' Manual.

I checked the Manual and in my 2016, according to the Manual, it is called Steering Assist.

I read a 2013 operator manul befor posting here and the manual didn't even mention the steering assist function. From MB website "Steering Assist helps you keep your vehicle centered on straight or slightly curved roads." I understand that it is supposed to steer itself. " And I can feel the steering wheel turning itself elecronically like in this video but I would like to turn it off, because for some reason on my car it tries to steer me out of the lane.

Anyone with DAS and a m271 that can share insight and actual OEM coding for Distronic?
Please?

I’ve been trying to get my manual transmission m271 w203 to work for a while...

THANKS in advance!

The Distronic and Lane Keeping Assist are two different systems. However, with the Distronic Plus, you get Active Lane Keeping Assist vs a passive Lane Keeping Assist

Thanks.
I am only in need, please, of OEM coding (i.e. Developer Mode) on an m271 with ART/Distronic. I am not receiving any fault codes related to the manual transmission, just improper coding...
Thank you!

Something like this image attached...
