Eco stop/start
automatic but when the lights change and my car does not move I am scared of being run into from behind.
Any clues that I could get would be appreciated. The system did not show any faults when it was tested.
Are we now seeing the problems associated with this idiotic system, forget about the marginal savings in fuel they will be eaten up with replacement batteries and repair bills.
I presume it starts normally and I presume it starts if you switch the ignition off after a failed stop/start, If there are no faults tested faults and no CEL on dash then the system considers the fault unimportant, I presume the car drives normally.
If you are set on using the stop/start system and outside of the warranty then it will cost to have it fixed, certainly if you go to main dealer for diagnosis, if you are not bothered then here is a simple way to deactivate stop/start, just disconnect the sensor attached to the negative rail of the starter battery, you will loose brake hold though but that`s all, other than that the car will run normally and show NO cel. I run a 2015 SLK and a 2012 C-Class coupe with this sensor disconnected, I just cannot stand the system. With this disconnect your battery will last much longer.
I would hate to be without the hold function as it is pretty hilly where I live and waiting at the lights etc make my foot tired ( I’m 86 years old).
i really appreciate the help!
