command console ribbon wire

hey guys
i have a 2010 c200 .. i was trying to take out the command knob to replace the broken shaft and i accidentally broke the little ribbon cable .. do you know if i can buy it separately? ... i don't want to buy the whole console as it costs about $ 300 used and $900 from the dealership. also another question, after removing the console the navigator doesn't pop up anymore, is that normal? will that be fixed once i fix the wire and put the command knob back in place?

thanks

Where did you break the cable? I pulled mine out at the base of the knob and I fixed it.

Take it to someone. Should be an easy fix. If you are trying to fix the broken shaft then you have the skills to fix this.

I pulled it at the base too.. good to know that you fixed yours. 2 of the ribbon wires are completely torn and i reattached them and still not working.. so am assuming there could be other tears that I cannot see under the insulation. I ordered ribbon wires on ebay .. hopefully it will easy fix as yours.

What about the screen? Why isn’t popping up? Is it because the knob now is not connected?

Thanks again

I think the screen not popping up is because this isn’t connected but not sure.

You don’t need that much ribbon so just cut it off 3” or so at the base and start from scratch.

thanks 95viper
i actually fixed the ribbon cable but the screen still won't pop up.. so i gave up and bought another second hand console for $250 but still won't work. i don't hear the motor so i think there is no electricity going through. i saw another thread that suggested that it could be the fuse but am not sure about that because the radio is still working.
i took it to an auto electrician and he told me without even examining the car that i need to go to the dealership because the car might need reprogramming.

any help is much appreciated. i don't want to be paying another 1000 dollars to the dealership.

thanks

Whatever you do...don’t go to dealer. Ask for recommendations here and in the AMG 204 forum. Someone will help.

Also post where you live and ask for independent mechanics in your area.
