(Another) Transmission Reset
I performed the procedure with my MB Star using Xentry (since I have a 2014 car) and can tell you that it is NOT the same as you’ve read about or watched on YouTube. I could tell that the controller had been totally cleared of any adaptations. Not only does the tranny shift quicker, it also downshifts noticeably when slowing and applying the brakes. It’s much more like how my wife’s G35 performs in Sport mode.
So, today I did the turn-on-the-key and count to 20 (or 10 or 100) process to see if it will smooth out the shifting at all. Eventually, I think the shifting would adapt more, but I want to see if a combination of steps gives me a more responsive, yet smooth, transmission.

Yep, that ignition switch process does nothing to the transmission. It's actually a re-synchronization of the drive-by-wire accelerator pedal to the throttle body. It can make the car fell like it shifts differently because when these get out of sync, the engine will be at a different RPM based on the report of the pedal position to the TCU.
In addition to resetting the transmission adaptations in SDS, you can also teach new ones. This works in conjunction with the "driver adaptive" feature. Those customized shift points are used as the baseline as the transmission adapts to repeated driver inputs.

Thanks for detailed information. But I would like to clarify that in Xentry there are two reset menu on vgs module; did you reset both values?
seen in the attached picture, I suppose the "Adaptation values of shift operations" should not be reset; on the xentry (right side) it says these values should only be reset after repair work (replacement of new transmission or rebuild/repair existing).
