vacuum pump failure? (2013 C300, M276 engine)

Just installed an oil separator on vacuum line connected to vacuum pump and noticed that there is excessive oil caught in the can.

My understanding is that this port(red circle) should have incoming air flow to the vacuum pump and should have no oil.

Did you ever solve this? I have 2013 C350 with M276 3.5L V6. The hose on this part keeps coming off and spews oil that has leaked down to my O2 sensor and setting off CEL.
