2013 C 350 C Brakes and Roaters Cost FYI

Brought my C350 Coupe with AMG Sport Package to Dealer. MB Caldwell, have been going all 4 years of ownership have always been competitive in pricing..

Well they build a new dealership and that changed real fast...

They Wanted $2000 for front and rears brakes pads, roaters, etc. Thought that was crazy so I shopped around.

2 Hours later I had two other MB dealers Nanuet and White Plains down to $1380...

Indy Goodyear (family friend) at $1,120.

Also had a buddy contact a MB tech who said he would do it for parts (almost $700) plus $500 at his house = $1200...

Went right to the manager and he said they would match the price but not before me wasting 4 hours of my time (i'm self employed so that's like $300 billable time). Time is money and they wasted my time. I get it MB is like McDonalds 90% of the people who come in are sheep they pay they leave. I'm just another number I get that too. But man talk about a rip off.

FWIW Prestige came in exactly the same as Caldwell but Prestige has been crooks for years. One of their best salesman (another family friend) left for Jaguar he was so fed up with it.

Buyer beware do your research always no matter what you think your relationship is. I have been going to MB Caldwell for 10 plus years (they have done so much for me over the years to be competitive) but this was borderline offensive. Now I have to look at every line on these invoices and make sure what's going on because I just don't trust them anymore.

PS: I know DIY is cheaper or INDY but the convenience of having a car dropped off and picked up worth the extra $200-$300 to me... Allows me to continue working uninterrupted.

Using quality parts and replacing pads, rotors, sensors & bushings I've gotten the 4-wheel job down to $487.54. I also cross-shop and break up my order when needed or when it makes sense (order minimums and what not).

So add $300 to that and you're in the $800 range. Not sure you'll get many takers. If someone did get it down to that level I would verify the parts they're using.

How is that a waste of time if you did some research that saved you like $800? It really took you four continuous hours to get four quotes?

So, I’m deducing you don’t know how to do your own brakes?

$700 is almost 100% markup for parts. FCP Euro has complete kits for around $420 shipped using Zimmerman rotors and Akebono pads.

Because your home dealership that you've been dealing with that then "matched the price" 4 hours later shouldn't be up-charging you $800. $200-$300 sure whatever but $800 is a 50 percent markup. With all the back and forth, because they need your VIN numbers, calling buddy who owns Caddy dealership to call his MB tech. Then to circle back to home dealership yeah 4 hours.

And no I do not know how to do my own brakes, I don't have the tools... I live in garaged condo complex so I don't exactly have a lot of storage it maybe true that you can get cheaper brakes elsewhere but MB brakes at cost $700 (yes I know they don't make them and you can go aftermaket).. And are you sure of brakes being $350?, these are drilled roaters AMG sport set....

Just as a point of interest ... RockAuto offers these cross-drilled front 322mm "sport" rotors for $36 ea ??? https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo...sn=447&jsn=447

I'm partial to Zimmermans myself, but these would probably work ok for normal daily driving.

Oh, and here are Zimmermans, $72 each, not bad at all ... https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo...307162&jsn=472

So buy the parts on line and pay the guy $500 to do the work, though I’d do it for $400! 😜
