271-070-37-01-80
This is the part number for the latest updated pump. It replaces part numbers 271-070-34-01 and 271-070-37-01.
W204 C250’s have a major flaw with their HPFP’s wherein around 70% fail before 80,000 miles. Mine went out when it was around 40,000 miles but at the time the car was not mine.
You know it is your high pressure fuel pump if you give if WOT and it goes into limp mode while simultaneously giving the check engine light code P002. This has been discussed thoroughly throughout the multiple forum posts on the W204 thread if you want to read up on it.
Ready to fix it? Ok great!
Firstly, your solution for parts will be a remanufactured HPFP, they are fixed used HPFP and have the flaw that Mercedes left in causing the failure removed after they found the cause. They sell for $400-$500. I bought mine for $430-ish from one of the mbparts websites. The HPFP is located in the back of your engine facing the driver. There is almost no space and you can barely even see it without leaning all the way into the car. It is an absolute ***** to replace and I highly recommend you take it to a shop as it has to be aligned with the camshaft when reinstalled. I was lucky enough to take it to a shop who had never done it before. They charged me $300 and ended up taking over 5 hours. Mind you this is an experienced performance shop I work with often. Either way, its not easy so I speculate the most expensive part will be the install. I’d say $400-$600 is feasible.
I hope this helps!
