Is an Emulator better than replacing EIS/ESL?

Hi guys - started a thread last week about my car's "sudden death" syndrome. I was thinking, instead of replacing both EIS, and ESL, why don't I just use an emulator to bypass all of that non-sense? Isn't that the best way to avoid any future failure of these units?

What are the downsides to using an emulator? It costs just about $300 or so, and is easier/better (so it seems) than taking it to the dealer.

Any input appreciated.

A number of members have used an emulator. As far as I know, I there haven't been any issues with them. Do a search on here as there are a number of threads on that.

I have been using emulators for a couple of years now on almost all W204's that have been in my shop for steering lock failure. I haven't had any of them come back. I usually offer a Genuine Mercedes Benz reman unit, emulator or a used one with updated motor(genuine motor/no ebay special). Most people go for the emulator due to pricing.

Sounds good...
I’m on the fence/need an emulator to maybe trick my Manual trans w203’s ME to think it’s coupled to a NAG to get my Distronic to work...
