Rear trunk motor operated opens then drops a little

Hi to all!

Maybe someone can help me.

I have a W204 2008 station with a automatic opening tailgate (rear trunk motor operated).

Since a few days ago, the tailgate opens till maximum has normal then, weird, drops some inches.

By the sound it makes, it seems its the motor that does that and drops the tailgate a little bit. The gas springs are good, i checked.

Is there anyway to reset the rear trunk like the windows door when they dont open full?

Or someone can help me about what can it be?

Thanks!

Yes!

I talked to a Mercedes specialist, that told me that this problem is common. Told me to change the eletric motor, and program, which included to drop the top.

Well, didnt do what he told me.

I did the cheapest and first thing to do: changed the two springs. And voila, problem gone.

May not be the solution for your problem, but change first the two springs. Its cheap, can be done by you, and takes max 10 minutes.

Just buy the spring with same newton as the ones on your car.

My original springs, went i took it of, got no strengh. None. The new ones got a lot of strengh.

Good luck!!!
