I have a 2014 W204. It has about 80k miles on it. Lately I hear engine rev-up sound when I reach speeds of 50+. The sound is loud and steady and doesn't seem to get faster or louder as I increase speed. It goes away once I drop below 50MPH. Performance doesn't seem to be affected either. RPMs are around 2k when I take my foot off the gas (going over 50).

Do the engine RPMs increase when you hear this noise or stay the same? If there is no change in the engine RPMs the issue is probably in the transmission.

Thanks for the reply. They stay the same. However, there are no shifting issues at all. Nor are there any computer codes.
