Stop Vehicle - Leave Engine Running

Stop Vehicle - Leave Engine Running
2016 C300 4Matic sedan with display warning: "Stop Vehicle - Leave Engine Running" and picture of a battery
The light has been on for a couple weeks, with no effect on driving or operation.
Battery is factory original. Volt meter reads 12.26 V with engine off and 15.06 V with engine running. Checked the battery cables - both are tight. Unhooked the negative cable, waited 5 minutes, and re-attached. Warning light returned when car was started.
Plugged in an ODB2 scanner, and it went through a check of 57 systems. All systems normal. No engine fault codes found.
I am thinking of replacing the battery because it is 4 years old anyway.
Any other suggestions?

Alecmascot - thanks, but I have reviewed all of the posts I could find on this topic and am still in the dark. It looks like my next step is to replace the battery because replacing the alternator would be a lot more expensive.

Is the 15.06V not a bit to high(14.5V)-?

Thanks to all who replied. I replaced the battery today and the warning light is now off.
Even though a volt meter was showing that the battery was normal with the engine off and after ignition, a battery tester revealed weakness during start up. Once the alternator kicked in, this weakness was no longer apparent. The battery probably could have lasted another 6 months or so, but the rather sensitive on-board computers were causing the warning light to come on now.

I apologize for bringing up this old thread. I had a similar issue with my vehicle recently; it turns out that I had a discharged battery which is a common cause for this issue. Then you can jump to the conclusion that you had a defective voltage regulator on your alternator w\that is responsible for charging your car’s battery. I did a lot of searches on this issue and came across an in-depth article that may be worth reading. Search for "Mercedes-Benz Stop Vehicle Leave Engine Running on YOUCANIC" and you will see an article that goes over common causes and possible fixes. You can read about it yourself. I hope this information can assist someone else with a similar issue.
