I've seen solutions for resolving the above problem in other threads before, but no matter what pattern of holding the sun roof close/open button in any duration/pattern, nothing seemed to fix it. Opening the sun roof in terms of auto-tilting up all of the way, or opening fully provides no stuttering, but I have to hold the button down and watch it stutter as it slowly comes to a close. With my 2008 C300, what options or other techniques are out there that I should try so I can get my sun roof to close correctly and smoothly?

My 2008 C300 sunroof started started to studded when closing while still under warranty. Dealer fixed it. Said they did a “software update”. Don’t know if that meant a reset procedure or an actual software change. Problem never showed again after the dealer action.

Thanks for the reply, Jim. If that seems to be the only way of fixing it, then I'll take it over at some point. But if someone knows of any other method, please let me know. Thanks all!

I had this issue once. My independent mechanic did a reset and all was well.

Hi,
I have had this happen twice, followed by the car battery failing within a few short months.
From what I learned from the dealer the module which controls the sun roof looses its memory of the full open and close points.

This I put down to low battery voltage or low amperage reserve which when cranking over is low enough to upset the sunroof module.

My advise is to have the battery tested when you are in the shop for resetting the sunroof just incase.

I have the exact same problem.
Any way to try the reset at home. Do I need a obd device to do this?
