2012 Mercedes-Benz C-Class C 300 Sport 4MATIC
New C300 Owner

Greetings - today I purchased my first MB. A 2012 C300 4matic.
I traded in my BMW for it, because after tuning and lots of fun the N20 engine did not hold up very well and right after the New Year the engine went.
So after doing some research I bought the C300 3.0 V6, very glad to be out of the 4 cyl world.

Anyway, I have a little list of questions I was hoping someone could answer at their leisure, as I am new to MB.

1 - Best resource for replacing the center caps on the wheels, they are peeling.
2 - Best place to buy a new steering wheel MB emblem - mine is peeling.
3 - The metal trim on the steering wheel is peeling and actually cut both of my thumbs during my drive home from the dealership. Any quick fix ideas?
4 - The fog lights were on, but I'm not sure how they actually turn on - I was not able to turn knob to left and pull as suggested on youtube.
5 - The plastic roof trim is peeling - is this something I can wrap in vinyl using piano black - or better off replacing?
6 - Any other known issues or things to look out for? I am at 50,000 miles. I plan to have the car for at least 3-4 yrs, I drive less than 10,000 miles per year.
7 - Any tips, tricks or coding that can be done? With my BMW I coded a lot, can I do any with this car?

Cool car—congrats!

I have the 2011 version of your car in Tanzanite Blue. The 4Matic rocks the roads here in Colorado.

Check eBay for the center caps. Cheaper and lower quality
than dealer but should last a few years.

One thing to look out for at 50k is to make sure the transmission service is done. Filter, fluid, drain torque converter. Recommended at 40 but may have been missed.

Thanks @5by5

... My 3 series was imperial blue, loved the color.
Thanks for the tip on the transmission! And will check ebay for wheel stickers for now!

The 2012 C300 4MATIC has the 7G+ transmission (not the older 7G) transmission so the transmission fluid and filter change interval is actually 70,000 miles not 40,000 miles. Nonetheless, I will still go ahead and change it at the 40,000 miles mark. If yours wasn't change then, definitely go for it.

@xsever thank you - much appreciated. Can you direct me to headlight options? Would like to get rid of the current halogens. Digging your quad exhaust.

Here's my vin info - https://www.vindecoderz.com/EN/check...GF8BB3CR201455

Is this option not standard on the sport models? - (772) AMG STYLING PACKAGE-FRONT SPOILER, SIDE SKIRT

What's the "Parking package?"
P47 PARKING PACKAGE HIGH - ???

916 FUEL TANK WITH LARGE VOLUME - VOLUME 1 - what's this mean?

Is there any work around to enable DVD's to play while driving?

Any other items on here that are of interest?

Since you're based in the US, these are the best options for aftermarket bi-xenon headlights: https://www.uniquestyleracings.com/s...LEDDRL?search=

The quad tips definitely add a nice touch to the rear. Transforms the car really.

The 772 is standard on Sport models.

P47 are parking sensors. I don't have them. Rare to find on US cars, but my German CLK 320 had them. I have the rear-view camera instead on my C.

916: nothing special.

Not sure about DVDs. Never looked into them.

Any inclination as to how to turn off the ABS Inoperative lights off? Had the car 2 days and can't seem to turn them off... Read I need to check the battery voltage and possibly replace the sensors?

Congrats on your new Purchase! I too have peeling roof trim, here’s part numbers:
204-690-75-82-64-9040, 204-690-76-82-64-9040

One is left the other right. I haven’t purchased a set yet, but I found this site: Benz Parts Delivered

Has anyone purchased from them before?

Yes - steering wheel emblem is far from perfect - would be great if a new emblem could be put on but I don’t think it’s possible?

I ordered a stainless X Pipe, 2.25” today - there’s only 1 long resonator to replace it with correct? I keep reading members asking if it should go near front or back.
