Question Camber effect on tire wear

Hi everyone,

A question to anyone with knowledge about alignment specs, on my 2010 C350 4-matic sport I had the alignment checked and the front camber reading are as follows:
Front Left: -0.3
Front Right: -1.6

is this difference between left and right normal? Can these contribute to inner edge tire wear?

Thank you

I don’t know about the actual numbers but the c350’s do tend to run some slight camber and wear the inner tire down faster.

Hi, no the difference between L&R is larger than what would be normal, inner tyre wear is due to either tow out or - camber or a combination off both.
I would just hope the machine is calibrated correctly either way I would be inclined to find out what the shop recommends to do about it, if you go back for repair ask to see the figures when it is mounted up to see if is the same as what you got the first time.

Some times it is as simple as loosening the bolts connecting the shock strut to the wheel hub as there is slop in the bolt holes, no need for concentric bushes etc.

Thanks for the reply, took it to MB, they only adjusted the Toe:
Left was 0.01 adjusted to 0.11
Right was 0.17 adjusted to 0.12

Camber still the same (L-0.3 R-1.6)

Is this adjustment good enough to improve tire wear? Camber need bolts to be adjusted is what I have been told

Yes, that's right all that can be adjusted is front and rear Toe (directional adjustment).

OEM there is no longer Front Camber and Caster or Rear Camber to adjust tire contact angles. Essential to resolve costly, premature edge tire wear, spread load more evenly.

Catering for other than showroom height conditions - high cambered roads, wheel squat through load carrying or lowering. Fitting wide profile tires/wheels. Adjustability to correctly resolve steering pull. Ongoing adjustment for curb knock damage.

We saw the need therefore to re instate from the early 90's once again full, precise adjustment.

Lack of adjustment is all to do with cost cutting and ever increasing speed of assembly lines. With KMAC Align - no more the need of going from one dealer or alignment shop to the next or constantly changing tire brands.

You can fit (front only) one offset position fluted bolts but they only offer 0.3 of one degree adjustment (1/8").

Current generation KMAC front replacement bushings offer up to 5 times this adjustment range and is precise single wrench (accurately on alignment rack under load). Replacing at the same time the 4 front highest wearing bushings.

Similar Rear kit providing Camber adjustment also for the first time (and "extra" Toe adjustment to compensate)

W204 incl. AMG
Front Camber & Caster kit #502616 K $480
Rear Camber (& extra Toe) #502226 K $480
Delivery $40 one kit (F/R $60)

about 17,000 miles. Was on lift today to install replacements front & back, just to find out that one of the fronts was faulty . . . would not hold air . . . so old ones went back on to tie me over til new replacement comes in sometime next week . . .
