Cannister purge valve

2014 C-350 V6 88K miles.

My 90K miles service is coming up and I'm thinking about having the mechanic check the operation of my pcv valve, which is cheap to replace if necessary. I also discovered that the vehicle has a "cannister purge valve" (cpv) which I'm not familiar with.

Is this something I should have checked, also? I looked in the maintenance booklet and neither item (pcv or cpv) is mentioned as something that should be checked on a periodic basis.

Engine runs fine and not getting any check engine light codes.

Thanks for info.

The cannister purge valve is a solenoid valve which will throw a CEL if not working correctly. Only way to check if it works is to supply 12V to it and see if it "clicks", not something you would need to worry about. The ubiquitous PCV is a very simple mechanism which, despite all the discussion about it, I have never seen fail over many engines I've dealt with, except in a motor which has enormous amounts of oil blowby from shot rings/worn cylinder bores which can gum it up, the least of that engines worries. Just my 2 cents worth.........

OK, thanks for that information.
I have a "mobile mechanic" guy who has done good work for me previously. I'll tell him to check tha PCV valve, which is a simple operation, and not worry about the cannister purge valve. No CEL codes are showing.
