Never said I need it, just wondering how many they sell a year to justify not discontinuing it when many cheaper parts are discontinued.

Ah. Most discontinued parts become superceded with better versions/different part #'s. Also some parts are made of other manufacturers. This, however, much like Mercedes other platforms, is the base of models over several years (08-14) and not superceded and thus probably has a reason to be there. Doubt they sell much though.
