Illuminated Star Wiring
Illuminated Star Wiring
I have purchased the illuminated grille star and fitted it to my aftermarket "diamond" style grille.
This was a bit of a battle as the clips for the star and the grille did not line up but a bit of encouragement with a scalpel made it work.
Now comes the next step which is to wire it up.
My 2012 C300 4Matic is fitted with the the xenon active adjusting headlamps. Everything I have found online suggests to wire this into the fog lights but for Canadian market cars these are used as daytime running lights and are always on.
Is there another wire that can be used that would still allow for the star to be on at night and when locking/unlocking but NOT on during the day when the LED foglights are on/main headlamps off?

Got it all done, took about 5 minutes and needed no tools other than the fork tool for the 3 plastic fasteners in the wheel well, soldiering iron and heat shrink. I went with wiring it up to the side marker lights as they were far easier to get at than the headlight wiring.
It does not flash with the lock/unlock and it is on only when the headlights are on, not during the day, which is what I wanted. It is bright enough to be noticeable during the day and I have not tested it at night but should be quite striking.
