Latest on C250 tunes?
I've been a long time member on Benzworld (on my second ML at the moment) and looking to possibly pick up a '13 C250 as a daily for my wife. What's the latest on ECU tunes for this car? It seems like they were able to flash them after 2017 but I couldn't find a lot of info.
I'd need something that can pass smog here in Cali or easily reversed at the very least. With VW's APR tunes, smog is a non issue. Curious if there is something similar for the C250? Don't need a huge amount of extra power but a little extra oomph never hurts. I found the DINAN unit but that seems like just a piggy back and no regular ECU flash?
Thanks in advance!

I have a 2013 C250 that I bought last year and I couldn't find anybody I trusted to do an ECU flash. Ended up getting the Dinan tuner and a GFB diverter, both if which have worked well. I'm trading the car in soon so i have to sell the Dinan, but it was a good purchase.

These cars are overall really good, except that you need to be sure the high pressure fuel pump is working correctly. I found out the hard way because I bought the car and a few weeks later I found out the pump was bad. Fortunately the dealership worked out a resolution.
The fuel pump worked fine in normal driving so on the test drive everything was good. After I bought it I found the car would go into limp mode whenever I drove aggressively, so I would lose power in the middle of fast-moving traffic on the 405. Not fun.
I would recommend when you test drive one to accelerate hard a few times to make sure the pump is working. I could get mine to go into limp mode by accelerating hard while manually shifting into 3rd and 4th gear, in either E or S mode. The car would then get a check engine light and lose power, and I would have to stop and restart the car.
The dealership cost to replace the pump is well over $1,000 or you can buy a reman for $600 and do it yourself. In other words, be sure it's good before buying the car.

The C250 i got in 2014 is now driven by my new wife. She loves it. Admittedly she a gentle driver - so a tune was never an option.
Surprisingly, the little coupe has never had an issue. That would seem quite rare for these M271 4 cylinder turbos.
all the best,

Besides maybe the fuel pump, I haven't seen too many issues on the C250. Sometimes simple is good ![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
