C220 key not working

C220 key not working
Good Afternoon Everyone,
Hoping someone can help..
my cars a 2013 c220cdi diesel blue efficiency,
when i press the lock/unlock buttons the car does not respond although the key fob flashes red,
I've also tried to lock/unlock the car by placing the key next to the IR sensor on the drivers door handle and nothing,
when in the car the internal central locking is working ok, the cars radio also works however when the fob is put into the ignition it doesn't appear to be registering,
i'm thinking the battery in the car and the remote is working ok so fuse or wire related maybe?
Any help would be appreciated,

Unfortunately I've not got a spare,
the battery on the cars been checked and confirmed ok, the fob has been confirmed working too,
i'm thinking it could be either the ignition barrel (circuit inside) or the Crash Battery Disconnect Fuse as part of the sam module after looking elsewhere so think it maybe time to get an auto electrician.
