Dreaded no ignition lights and start!

Dreaded no ignition lights and start!
Hi all,
Well my 2007 C220 CDi has seemingly suffered the common non-start issue.
Key goes in, turns right around to the start position, but no ignition lights come on.
I have tried a battery reset, thumping around the steering wheel, inserting the fob the other way around, tried the spare fob. Called out the AA breakdown service.......all to no avail.
Now, I can’t even find the thread that tells me how to release the gearlever by removing the leather shroud.
I want to get the car into neutral, ready for the tow truck on Monday.
Not looking forward to the cost.

Managed to figure out how to release the gearlever.
Then funnily enough, after moving the gearlever thru positions a few times, I tried the key, and hey presto I can start the car again.
I will still have to take it to the dealer though.
