Rear Fuse Box - which one is positive terminal / for fuse tap

Hi - for my W204 facelift I am trying to clarify for the fuse panel in the rear trunk, in the panel (circled in yellow) where fuse #71 sits, is the left or right contact point the positive terminal?

Asking because trying to add a fuse tap (for reverse camera), and the contact (labelled + 12 volts) furthest away from the power out wire is meant to go into the positive terminal (from my research online, please correct if wrong, have seen several videos saying this is the case). If the right hand side is the positive point, then the fuse tap in the picture (taken from someone's video on YT) is the wrong way? The pictured way does work, but the videos I have seen say the fuse won't be active (i.e. you wont be benefiting from them)

I tried using one of these: https://www.screwfix.com/p/hayes-uk-...m-x-15mm/8705x to test positive but didn't get anything and don't have any other tools.

Appreciate all the help

i -

I think what he is saying is that if the accessory is wired directly to +12v, the fuse is no longer in circuit. So it's a legitimate question.

There's definitely a supply/batter side (+12V) and a load side (ground) to the fuse block. I believe the inner part of the socket is the +12V and the outer part is the load side. The fuse connects and protects the circuit. Depending on which column of fuses you select, the +12V will be on the right or left.

Alternatively, pull the fuse and probe the fuse block for +12V.

The original question makes sense to me. There is a right and wrong way to install those. If installed the opposite way the current from both accessories being powered will be going thru the 1st fuse.

Based on this photo im assuming the power out is on the outside of the fuses, the + supplied from the battery is on the inside. Looks like the wires to the accessories are on the outside.
