W204 2011 ESL issue

I have been reading much of W204 ESL issue on the forum as well as watching DYI video on youtube.

Luckily I have not had this, but my car is getting old.

2011 W204 C300 4matic 135,000 miles

Do you think every car in 2011 W204 will see ESL failure? I like to keep my car long.

Is anyone living in Chicago area recommend a good place to get an emulator before it fails?

Thanks.

I'm no expert but in my own research it seems it's only a matter of time before it fails. I'll be replacing mine with an emulator preemptively.

Hi, I would compare my car to another one, preferably one that had been replaced. Listen to the briskness of the sound when you insert the key. After myne was replaced I immediately noticed the sound is faster, more brisk. You get used to the sound going slower towards the end. Try that.

My old w203 made it to over 200k miles on the original ESL
hat said all moving parts will fail eventually but from what I have seen the w204 seems to be much better.

Its a motor so I can't imagine it not failing eventually at that high of miles. Specially if you do a lot of short distance drive where you're always having to put the key in. That's when the motor activates. My 2010 failed at around 160k I think. It was stuck at some residential area and I had to miss work for 3 days til I fixed it.

At the beginning Daimler came out with a service bulletin stating the problem was on certain early models. But I can tell you that if it is a W204/X204/W207 and it has the steering lock installed, IT WILL FAIL! I have replaced 100's of ESL's and Emulators.
