Need help with D1S bulb assessment
The left headlight’s bulb bi-xenon D1S got burnt on my 2012 C300. The original bulb was Philips brand. I bought exact the same bulb from Amazon. It arrived the next day after order. I’ve checked the label and it looks exact same as my burnt one. I replaced the bulb and to my surprise the new bulb brightness does not match to the one on the right headlight, i.e. the new bulb is more yellowish.
Question: does these type of bulb needs some time to burn in order to become brighter (more white)?
This is the new D1S bulb

Most sources will say replace them both at the same time but I think that’s a waste of money.

that is normal that it won't match as your old bulb has color shifted (al HID bulbs do that as they age ever seen an old Acura with an almost pink light?)
The Philips bulbs tend to go darker blue which many like but in reality they are putting out less lumens and are worse than the new bulb even if they look "cooler".
This is why it is recommend to replace older hid bulbs in pairs so you restore you light output back to new!
On my old w203 when I replaced the original bulbs to new Philips ones I couldn't believe at how much more I could see on the dark country roads. Now if you never leave the city then it may not be worth it to you.
I always buy my bulbs from a place down in Atlanta called The retrofit source as getting genuine bulbs at a decent price is sadly very hard. Way to many fakes on Amazon (got burned a few times even though they came straight from Amazon).
