Instrument cluster/steering wheel buttons/trunk release not functional
Today when I got in my car and started it, the entire instrument cluster was dead (no lights, no movement, no nothing at all!) and the buttons on the steering wheel weren't working and also the trunk release from both inside and outside the car did not work while the car was powered up (the trunk functioned fine while the car was off) I checked all the fuses, all good. The battery was replaced with a brand new one maybe 3-4 months ago. I pulled up the carpets to check for water around the wiring since I've had an issue with flooding before (drains on either side of the sunroof were clogged) and it was bone dry despite HEAVY rainfall today. Everything else appears normal. Radio works as does the command knob, all interior and exterior lights are fine including blinkers, wipers function fine, sun roof works, engine runs, transmission changes gears, backup camera works, car drives. All normal except those 3 things. An hour or 2 later I went back out and it's all working again though there is now a check engine light on. Any ideas?
