2013 C250 - engine rattle and now won't start
Hi everyone,
I had an intermittent engine rattle, in particular after starting there would be a rough rattle and almost a revving like sound. After warming up the engine and letting it run, generally it went away. Never occurred consistently enough throughout ownership to cause alarm (have had the car since 2012 with ~110K miles), and every time I went to do regular service, no specific error codes would come up (at one point someone said a spark plug may be going bad and need to be replaced eventually). Otherwise the car has ran great without issue.
Tonight, however, there was a much more noticeable rattle while driving (the worst engine sound I have heard from this car), and after turning the engine off, I tried to turn it on again and the starter will crank, but the engine won't turn on and the check engine light came on. Electrical and everything else appears to be working, however.
From reading around, it seems this model has had issues with the cam shaft and some of the symptoms I'm reading sound similar to the rattle -- I understand MB will cover the repair out of warranty if that's the case. Thoughts? Thanks so much.

2012 to 2014 Mercedes-Benz C250 were involved in a timing chain/adjuster/tensioner class action law suit', I believe. A Google Search will go into the details. 112,000 miles would put your car in that range where they fail.. . The law suit was started at the beginning of this year. Pretty sure MB Dealers are not automatically covering the repair work at this point.
