WTF! Merry Christmas to me...
So, in an earlier post, I spoke of a blender, whirring sound in the passenger front right area of my 2013 C300 4matic. I took it to MB of Rochester and their diagnosis is that the whole transmission needs to be replaced (the bad bearing in the torque converter?), and they gave me a preliminary quote of $11k! Holy moly!!! I only paid 16k for the car!!!
My situation is more interesting. I purchased the car from Carvana and as you may know, they come with a 7 day trial period. Well, the day before I received the car, I learned that my brother passed away in Louisiana and we had to leave for funeral the next day. I did not get home until after the 7 day period. I tried contacting Carvana while out of state to explain but could not find anyone online or my phone to chat with and explain. So, after I got back home, I took it to MB and got my diagnosis.
So, the car comes with a 90 day warranty from SilverRock insurance. I have a claim started and can only hope it is fully covered and repaired properly.
Who has replaced the tranny in their W204 and is it worth it?
Boy...this sucks. I've never had a bad tranny in a car before let alone, be served an 11k repair bill..

2010 C300 4MATIC........ 2011 C63 AMG.............. 2015 CLS400 4MATIC.....
Rare problem, I've never heard of it affecting the facelift models....
I did it, couldn't find a better car to trade it in for so swapped a used low mileage one in for like 4k. This was years ago of course. If i had to, i would do it again. Even today, i struggle to find a better car without doubling my budget. Hopefully your warranty works, keep us updated.

had a call with the dealership this morning. the insurance company has agreed to replace the tranny with a reman'd one. Hmmm....I didn't really know what to say at that moment only other than YES so that some kind of work order could be generated. However, I am not such a fan of a remanufactured part...let alone the tranny. IDK....really torn with this one. I haven't had the car two months yet and its been a rollercoaster.
Anyone ever see success with reman'd transmissions in these cars? Or should I say...is it worth keeping the car now? I really feel like Carvana sold me a bum car...

Sorry it happened to your beloved car.
I believe if transmission failed, most cars will get a remanufactured/rebuilt trans. Usually it is not worth the money to replace with a new one, and if rebuilt right, it is nearly "new".
My 2000 Lexus RX300 transmission failed and a rebuilt one was put in. It is as strong as new.

They don't really make 722.9 anymore so unlikely you'll ever get new.
As long as the car operates as it should I'd take it
