Light Issues

I have an Australian W204 2008 and having issues with the lighting.

When in off mode after turning the car off, most times it turns on the rear right side park lights after the time out period after the lights stay on initially. On the remaining, all lights go off normally after the time out.

When in auto mode and driving, headlights stays on during the day regardless how bright and sunny it is! Day time driving lights are OFF in the settings. However after turning off the car, it will turn off all the lights correctly.

When off, rear-right parkers stays on

I have tried to clear the sensor by cleaning the wind screen externally and used an air compressor to blow the inside to no avail.

Anyone have any ideas as I would like to try and repair this myself before taking to auto electrician?

Appreciate your time for any feedback.

I would probably replace the switch first...fairly inexpensive and YouTube has many DIY's on how to remove. The first error you note, the rt. parking lights staying ON when switch is OFF, is definitely a switch contact problem and mentioned in many other posts.

Thanks for the reply. I had read along those lines also along with poor grounding, however in those instances they only had the parker problem and not the headlight at the same time - however that gives me more confidence in replacing that unit.

Living in Australia, yes those parts are relatively inexpensive than sending it to the dealer to repair with something that "looks" the same. Closest I can find on eBay is from Germany @ AUD$440 and Lithuania @ AUD$366 delivered.

I must have not read, however do the switches have to be identical models or are most compatible as I see a few different styles/designs?

Agree with your mentioning the headlight problem area is somewhat unique. I had the lt side parking light ON problem. I used the swiych in the link...some switches mention for cars with DRL or rear interior adaptive lighting (whatever that is!). My OEM switch had a part number on the back so I called to find out compatibility. Get the feeling if they look like yours, they work. MY USA switch looks identical to yours but I don't have the headlight level adjuster. The switch itself fits into the mounting plate with your headlight up/down so shouldn't make a difference.
