Vapor Canister Replacement Help —PZEV Vehicle

CAR: 2009 C350 PZEV
Location: Driver Rear passenger Wheel Well

ISSUE:
I'm getting a fuel smell from that side the driver side and this is the likely suspect. I can't find it in the manual

Part # 212-470-02-59

Applicable States For Partial Zero Emission Vehicle:
(California, Maine, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Pennsylvania, Vermont)

Q1. I can't find a DIY guide.

I know you need to remove the rear fender liner on driver side. The clamps seem easy enough. Open gas tank.

Q2. Is replacement mileage specific?

Part I purchased

I bought from Rock Auto at $217.66 including tax, shipping vs. OE $284.05 (not including tax or shipping.

Some of the Mercedes dealer sites want to charged $39 for shipping to start. Some do offer local pickup.

I've never heard of WVE before. Hopefully the quality is comparable.

Best of luck. Personaly I would've went with a used OEM one from ebay'

These last very long unless you like to keep topping off at the gas station.

i never top off but the car has 141K. Too risky to buy used. it’s possible one of the clamps could be loose but I bought the car with 48K.

Personally, I prefer taking the risk with oem used parts than lesser knows aftermarket brand parts. Hopefully, it works out for you.

Since you can smell the vapors, it means it is cracked somewhere. I would smoke test it and see if the crack can just be patched up with some high strength epoxy.

it’s an odd situation. There is no CEL or EVAP codes. The fuel filter needs to be done but that’s pretty much it.

I tend to avoid used filters or suspension parts but anything else I’ll buy used OEM. Thanks for input.
