2012 C250
2012 C250 transmission service

I know this has been gone over many times. I have a 2012 C250 with 39,000 miles. I visited two reputable independent Mercedes dealers about a transmission service.
I asked if they drained the torque converter. Both said that there is no drain plug on torque converter. Well, some posts say yes and some say no. So, what's the deal?

I got quotes of $375 and $450.

Thanks for your input.

Cheers

It should have a torque converter drain plug. Checked a couple of different parts suppliers and the EPC (generic C250 204047). Item 20 in the attached drawing. Part # 001-990-11-17. Easiest way to check is to jack up the front of the car and remove the rubber inspection plug from the bottom of the transmission bell housing. Rotate the engine slowly from the crankshaft pulley nut (28mm if I remember), shine a flashlight in the hole, and watch for the drain plug. If you want to send your VIN I will check the EPC definitively.

My 2012 C300 4MATIC Sport had the torque converter drain plug. I made sure to drain it when I did the transmission service. Lots of fluid came out. Make sure it is drained if you have and yes it's very easy to check if you have through the access hole.
