2014 C300 4matic Sport - Loud tick/Low fuel pressure
so I purchased the vehicle last April with 49k miles and the last few months the car has been hesitant/jerky between 5-45mph. There's a loud tick coming from near the high pressure fuel pump that ticks faster during acceleration and only is audible once the engine warms up. During this winter, there were 2 occasions where I went to start the car in the morning and the moment I hit the throttle the engine died down noticeably and the check engine light came on. But restarting the ignition erased the check engine light and both times the car ran fine after restarting it. The check engine light codes were both for low fuel pressure. 1 stating internal component fail, the other saying internal component fail/faulty instruction. I attached a graph which was in 25-50mph driving conditions, showing the map and the fuel rail pressure. Unfortunately I didn't add the engine rpm to the graph but I can attach a pic if it's the rpms tomorrow if necessary. Has anyone got an idea on what may be going on/experienced this issue before? I ordered a high pressure fuel pump but would like to try other things before I fit it on the vehicle making it non returnable. I also pulled the existing high pressure pump out and cleaned it with card cleaner and air dried it before refitting it and that didn't make any difference.
