Tensioner & tensioner strut replacement

I replaced my Manual transmission C300's belt and two pulleys a couple weeks ago. My mechanic didn't feel it was completely necessary for the tensioner to be replaced at the time. He quoted $350 for the tensioner replacement. It is now making noise so I think it's time to go ahead and replace it. The problem I have is my C300 has a tensioner strut, its not a spring tensioner like all the posts and replacement videos I've seen.

The tensioner strut part # is 272-200-01-14.

Is it necessary to replace both the strut and tensioner? Or can I just get the tensioner replaced?
