Aux via AMI on 2014 W204 with audio 20?

Aux via AMI on 2014 W204 with audio 20?

Hey all,
I’m trying to install a CarPlay kit into my w204 with audio 20 but am already stumped at step 1. It requires an aux port to work and I don’t have one in my center console or glovebox. I thought I’d be able to use the AMI/MMI port in the center console. However, when I connect the AMI to aux cable that I got off Amazon, I’m not able to get aux input to work. Under media interface, it just says “no device connected.” Any thoughts on how to get an aux?
Also sporadically having trouble getting brake hold to engage, if that makes any difference.
