My car is vibrating because of MISFIRE ?? 2008 w204 4matic

So i thought it was transmission problem at first, then after diagnosis i was told it was a misfire on cylinder number 4
has anyone ever experienced this kind of vibration just because of misfire?? and the guy told me to buy a new ignition coil, i don't understand how ignition coil could cause vibration to the entire car.

The vibration started one day i got stuck in snow and had to abuse the gas pedal to get out of the situation, then the car started vibrating heavily since then.. even the lights flinch at the sound of the vibration

I just dealt with something similar. A misfire, but not enough to throw any DTC or MIL. For me it was the coil packs wearing out. I replaced all 4 coil packs & the missing / vibration was gone. It did also end up needing a fuel pressure sensor a couple weeks later, but each of those parts is only about 40-50 bucks & can be installed in short time.

Okay, i have to be sincere, i've never heard of "coil packs" before ........... i just googled it, and its still showing me ignition coils.. maybe i should change the ignition coil at cylinder #4 and see if the vibration stops then? did you change spark plugs too?
Can you please post a picture of the "COIL PACKS" ??? atleast i will know will know what im looking for. Thanks

Hi,
Was it diagnosed at a service department and you were quoted what was wrong or was "some guy" guessing what it could be?

If you have not had a proper diagnosis I would highly recommend one.
Either way if indeed it was correctly diagnosed yes defiantly replace all the spark plugs and then you have a choice just replace the faulty coil or replace a full set of coils, they are referred as coil packs as there is one for each spark plug normally.

Glad you got it back going again. For clarity, coil packs are simply another way to reference ignition coils. It's the same thing.

My two cents....I just had some rough low RPM idle on my 114k mile. I went ahead and replace all the spark plugs, ignition coils, replaced the air filters and cleaned the MAF. Took about an hour, really easy and made a huge difference. Guess it was time for some clean air and clean fire. One of the plugs I pulled the electrode was bent all the way down and the rest were all pretty much worn due to age.
