2012 C250 loses all steering wheel button including horn.

2012 C250 loses all steering wheel button including horn.
This happens to me about twice a year for the last 5 years on my` 2012 C250. I will get
in the car and start it up and none of the buttons on the steering wheel will work including
the horn. Ever try to drive in Los Angeles without a horn?
But every time it has happened after sitting over night every thing will be back to normal
for another six months. My research has led me to a control module in the steering column.
Has anyone else experienced this problem and was it the steering wheel module.
Does it pay to get it fixed if it only happens twice a year? and why does it happen?
I like to honk the horn and it is very frustrating and dangerous to not being able to use your horn,
There were two specific instances on my ride home today when I really wanted to use the horn
on people in front of me but was unable to. Damn BMW drivers

Horn, use of, SoCal, traffic, low information drivers - - bottom line: not good.
Coming back from a 7-month Navy deployment, I volunteered to drive from LA to SF
After not driving a vehicle during the 7 month period my aircraft carrier was in SE ASIA waters.......................
I was plunged into LA prime time traffic.
You have my empathy.
