Reading this thread it strikes me as crazy how a work-around or separator only replacement in the relevant circumstances isn't considered more often.

How many of the rear main seals would be just fine without the additional crankcase pressure? It's mentioned, by why not deal with it first if it's on your own dime or preventative?
