Fuel Pump/Level Sensors

Question for the group.

Last week I had to have my fuel pump replaced. Replaced was the pump, a seal ring, and a control unit. I got it back from the dealer and within 50 miles the fuel gauges quit working, this was the analog gauge on the dash and the digital miles to empty gauge on the consumption screen.

I took it back in to the dealer and I'm getting the " fuel pump doesn't have anything to do with the level sensors" talk from the dealer. In my mind I'm thinking they are all connected and when the pump was replaced the dealership had to have caused the level sensors to go bad. It's too much of a coincidence that this would have happened within 50 miles of the pump being replaced.

Am I thinking incorrectly, or should the dealer be responsible for the level sensors? I think they are.
