Conductor Plate Replacement 08 C350
Hi I’m new to the forum. I took my 08 C350 into the shop last night it’s shifting hard into Drive and won’t shift higher than 1st gear. They told me sounds like a conductor plate that needs to be replaced. If it is the whole plate is it true that you CANT use a used one off of another car? They said that the car basically imprints the cars VIN into the plate so that it’s only good for one vehicle.
Mercedes dealership told me that they can’t even sell the part over the counter to a non certified Mercedes Mechanic. I’m guessing that is for their original Mercedes brand correct? Can I just order a brand new one off eBay and have my mechanic install it? Does it need to be programmed when putting in a new conductor plate? Trying to save as much money as I can.
