Head unit/screen/radio upgrade

I spent the last 7 days ish reading watching videos searching Internet trying to find a good screen upgradeThe thread on the forum are a complete mess with most people ending" DIY fitting with Tie wraps and dock tape"

IM looking for a more now days look with at lease equal sounds quality, that can play movies , and most importantly have GPS and maps.

Also I hoping to find something that will allow me to make good quality calls without all that back noise that I get with stock mic.

Is there someone that have found AND INSTALLED successfully a unit without messing around for weeks?

Off course it would be a plus to be Android.

Thanks

I went with one of the 10.25 displays. It does just about everything you are looking for. It uses the stock radio but swaps out the display. You can pull up the stock display for the stock radio. You use android apps for GPS, MP3 capability and backup camera.

I was a little leery at first but overall I am happy with my purchase. Been about 3 years.

my only issue is sometimes adding apps will cause it to act up. But otherwise it was a nice upgrade and easy install.

Do you remember the "Brand" ?
do you have specs ?
Was it plug and Play?
What's your vehicle?

Thanks

I bought one from CKM designs.. Chris ends up acting as the middle man and supported my install when I had a few questions.

It was plug and play. It came with all wiring and connectors to interface with the stock wires. Including the CAN bus interface so things like fan speed and climate control temperature will show up. the hardest part was stuffing all the wires back in behind the stock head unit. I found out I was able to tuck the extra wires/connectors under the center console which provided enough room.

The head unit remains, just the display is swapped out. It operates in a couple modes.. It will act just like the normal screen you have today, basically showing the same stuff on it. You can also get a back-up camera input, GPS (Google Maps, Waze), and can play audio and video files etc. I can wifi tether my iPhone to it and get live traffic/weather etc when I go on any trips..
